Write for Pulse Issue No. 5

The next edition of Pulse launches in March 2026, and Writing East Midlands wants you to write for it! That’s right: We’re looking for a 500-word piece (or 30-line poem) to publish in both the print and digital copies of Issue No. 5.

Your submitted piece should respond to the themes raised in the latest edition, Writing the Truth, whether that’s through the medium of creative nonfiction, flash fiction or poetry. Tell us what you thought of your favourite article, what you think a writer’s responsibility is to the truth or what truths you aim to share in your writing. We want to know!

The successful writer will receive a commission of £50 for their piece. Enter your writing by 17th December 2025 at 11.59 pm for your chance to be considered.

Only one piece per writer can be submitted, so choose your entry wisely! If your writing is successful, we'll be in touch in the new year to let you know (and to ask for a short bio and appropriate headshot to publish alongside your work, as well as bank details to arrange your payment). 

Entrants must be based in the UK to be considered.
